Split System Air Conditioning Installation Melbourne
We install split system air conditioners from start to finish: dedicated circuit, wall mounting, pipework, vacuum, refrigerant charge and commissioning. Ali holds both an electrical licence and an ARC refrigerant handling licence, so the whole job is done by one licensed tradesperson. No second contractor to book around, and one person accountable for the result.

Why one licensed tradesperson matters
A split system is two jobs in one: the refrigeration side, which needs an ARC licence, and the electrical side, which needs an electrical licence. Most installers hold one and subcontract the other, which means two people, two invoices, and nobody clearly responsible when something is not right. We hold both, so the circuit, the isolator, the pipework, the vacuum, the gas charge and the commissioning are all done by the same person, on the same day.
Sizing and choosing a unit
Getting the size right matters more than the brand. A unit that is too small runs flat out and never quite gets there; one that is too big short-cycles and leaves the room clammy. As a rough guide, a bedroom needs about 2.5 kW, a living room 5 to 7 kW, and an open-plan kitchen and living area 7 to 8 kW, adjusted for ceiling height, window area and which way the room faces. We install Mitsubishi Electric systems most often and can supply or install other major brands.
What the installation involves
The indoor unit is mounted on an internal wall with the outdoor unit as close as practical on the other side, which keeps the pipe run short and the install tidy. A dedicated circuit is run from the switchboard with an isolator beside the outdoor unit. Pipework is insulated, vacuumed to remove moisture, and charged; then the system is commissioned and tested. Back-to-back installs are usually done in half a day. Longer pipe runs, a second storey, or a switchboard with no spare capacity add time, and we tell you before we start.

Split System Air Conditioning: common questions
What size split system do I need?
Roughly 2.5 kW for a bedroom, 5 to 7 kW for a living room, and 7 to 8 kW for a large open-plan area, adjusted for ceiling height, windows and aspect. Send us the room dimensions and a photo and we will recommend a size with the quote.
Do you install a split system I bought myself?
Yes. Send the model and a photo of where you want it, and we will quote the installation.
How long does a split system installation take?
A back-to-back install, with the outdoor unit directly behind the indoor unit, is usually done in half a day. Longer pipe runs or a new circuit from a distant switchboard can take a full day.
Do I need a licensed installer for a split system?
Yes, for both halves. Handling refrigerant requires an ARC licence and the electrical connection requires an electrical licence. We hold both, so one person completes the whole job legally.
