LED downlights and halogen replacement

Swapping old halogen downlights for LED is the most common lighting job we do, and one of the best-value ones. A 50 W halogen replaced with a 10 W LED uses a fifth of the power, runs far cooler, and lasts many years instead of months. We fit downlights rated for contact with ceiling insulation, so insulation can be laid right over them without a fire risk, and we match dimmers to the fittings so they do not flicker.

If you are renovating, this is the time to plan lighting properly: downlight spacing, a pendant over the island, LED strip under the cabinets, and switching that makes sense for how you use the room.

Power points and new circuits

New power points, extra points in the kitchen or home office, USB charging outlets, and outdoor weatherproof points are all quick jobs when the existing wiring is in good condition. Appliances that draw heavily, such as ovens, induction cooktops and heat-pump hot water, need their own circuit from the switchboard, and we will tell you when that applies.

Every new point or circuit is RCD protected and tested, and you receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety.

Outdoor, garden and pool lighting

Outdoor lighting needs fittings rated for weather and, near a pool, for the specific safety zones around the water. We install wall lights, path and garden lighting, sensor floodlights, and pool and alfresco lighting, with cabling run properly rather than draped along a fence.
